Author Guidelines

The Editorial Board requires authors to adhere to the following guidelines when preparing manuscripts for publication in the journal:

  • Each issue may include no more than one manuscript from the same author;
  • Authors are permitted to publish a maximum of two articles within a year;
  • The number of co-authors for a single manuscript must not exceed six;
  • The submission must constitute an original piece of scholarship that has not been previously published or concurrently under consideration for publication in any other academic journal;
  • Manuscripts that fail to meet the prescribed submission requirements will be rejected and returned to the authors.

Manuscripts submitted to the journal must adhere to the primary publishing standards set forth by APA 7 (American Psychological Association) style, including the formatting of bibliographic references.

  1. Authors should submit only articles that have been carefully proofread and polished in English Languange
  2. The work should not have been published or submitted for publication elsewhere, or extended version of previously published papers in conferences and/or journals.
  3. All articles must be submitted to SFLEEP Editorial Office by Online Submission at publisher portal url: https://sfleep-eagi.kz/index.php/sfleep author must be created user and password, after login click new submission and follow the next process.   4. Article should be prepared according to the following template: (download).
  5. Two types of articles are acceptable for publication: Original Research Articles (5000-8000 words) and Literature Review Articles (2000 words).
  6. Upload two types of files: (i) original article; (ii) anonymized article (author's name and acknowledgements removed).
  7. Cite the main scientific publications on which your work is based.
  8. Do not inflate the manuscript with too many references. Avoid excessive self‐citations.
  9. Check each reference against the original source (authors name, volume, issue, year, DOI Number).
  10. Please use Reference Manager Applications like EndNote, Mendeley, Zotero, etc. (we suggest Mendeley).
  11. During the review process, reviewer comments and editorial recommendations will be sent to the corresponding author via email. Authors are required to revise their articles in accordance with the reviewers’ comments and submit the corrected version within the specified timeframe. The revised article should be sent to the Editorial Office via email at sfleep1@gmail.com

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word (.docx) document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Manuscript Formatting Guidelines

Authors are strongly encouraged to review the scope of SFLEEP: Sustainable Foreign Language Education from Eurasian Perspective and submit manuscripts that present original contributions and significant advancements in foreign language education, applied linguistics, and cross-cultural communication. Priority will be given to works that address under-explored issues from a Eurasian perspective. The recommended length for a research article is 5,000 to 8,000 words, while literature review articles should be between 2,000. This word count includes the abstract, tables, and bibliographic references but excludes appendices.

Article Structure

  • Author Information: Full name, affiliation, and email of the corresponding author;
  • Title;
  • Abstract: 250–300 words;
  • Keywords: 5 to 7 words;
  • Introduction: rationale for the relevance of the study; identification of the research problem; description of the object and subject of the research; research aims and objectives; a brief literature review;
  • Methods and Materials: description of the research methods and approaches, including data collection and analysis tools; ethical considerations;
  • Results and Discussion: presentation and interpretation of the obtained results (tables, graphs, and illustrations);
  • Conclusion: synthesis of findings, comparison with existing literature, limitations, and recommendations for future research;
  • Acknowledgments (if applicable);
  • References: strictly following APA 7 style for in-text citations, reference list, tables, and figures.
  • Author Information, Title, Abstract, and Keywords should be provided in two languages, excluding the language of the article. For detailed guidance on APA 7, see: https://apastyle.apa.org/style-grammar-guidelines/citations.

Text Format

  • Main text: Times New Roman, 12 pt, single line spacing, justified, paragraph indent 0.8 cm;
  • Chapter headings: Times New Roman, 14 pt, bold; section headings: Times New Roman, 12 pt, bold;
  • Tables: numbered consecutively, title placed above the table;
  • Figures and diagrams: numbered consecutively, title placed below the figure;
  • Paper size: A4 (210×297 mm); margins: 2 cm on all sides;
  • Page numbers: bottom-right corner.

Publishing Ethics

SFLEEP: Sustainable Foreign Language Education from Eurasian Perspective is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in the conduct and publication of research. Authors are required to comply with the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE): https://publicationethics.org/guidance/Guidelines. Submitted manuscripts must not have been previously published or be under consideration for publication in another journal. Authors are responsible for obtaining all necessary ethical approvals prior to submission. The editorial board makes decisions based solely on the intellectual content of submissions.

Author Responsibilities

Authors of original research articles are required to present a precise description of their work and an unbiased analysis of its significance. Essential data must be accurately depicted in the manuscript. False or deliberately misleading statements are deemed unethical and are not acceptable.

Originality and Plagiarism

SFLEEP: Sustainable Foreign Language Education from Eurasian Perspective places a strong emphasis on academic integrity and ethical publishing practices. Authors are required to ensure that their work is original and properly cite any work or words of others. All submissions undergo a plagiarism check through Turnitin, with a threshold of no less than 75% original content.

Authorship of the Article

Authorship should be restricted to individuals who have made a substantial contribution to the conceptualization, design, execution, or interpretation of the research. The final version of the manuscript should be reviewed and approved by all co-authors before submission.

Disclosure of Information and Conflicts of Interest

Authors are required to reveal any financial or other significant conflicts of interest that might influence the results or interpretation of their research, as well as all sources of financial support for the project.

Correction of Substantial Errors in Published Papers

Should an author identify a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, they are obligated to immediately notify the journal editor and collaborate to withdraw or amend the article.

Use of Generative AI Tools

The editorial team of SFLEEP: Sustainable Foreign Language Education from Eurasian Perspective discourages the use of AI programs to write sections of manuscripts. Authors who use tools such as ChatGPT are required to follow the guidelines provided by COPE: https://publicationethics.org/cope-position-statements/ai-author. Authors who use AI tools in writing, image production, or data analysis must disclose this transparently in the Methods section. AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. Authors bear full responsibility for the content, even parts produced with AI assistance. Declaration format — Section title: Declaration of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process. Statement: During the preparation of this work the author(s) used [NAME TOOL / SERVICE] in order to [REASON]. After using this tool/service, the author(s) reviewed and edited the content as needed and take(s) full responsibility for the content of the published article.

Peer Review

SFLEEP: Sustainable Foreign Language Education from Eurasian Perspective employs a double-blind peer review system. Each manuscript is assigned to at least two reviewers who are experts in the relevant field. Reviewers are selected from among leading international and Kazakhstani scholars. Manuscripts submitted for publication must contain a minimum of 75% original content.

Manuscript Review and Publication Process

Manuscripts are accepted exclusively through the online submission system. Upon submission, each manuscript undergoes an initial review to verify alignment with the journal's scope, compliance with editorial guidelines, and adherence to formatting standards. All submissions are subjected to plagiarism and AI-generated content verification using Turnitin. The editor-in-chief selects reviewers with relevant expertise. Manuscripts are sent for review without disclosing the identities of the authors. Reviewers evaluate the manuscript within 2 to 4 weeks. Reviewer comments (without personal information) are forwarded to the author. The author must submit a revised version within one month. The decision to reject a manuscript is made by the editorial board in accordance with reviewers' recommendations. The author will be notified via their account.

Manuscript Evaluation Criteria

  • Significance: Does the manuscript demonstrate sufficient novelty and relevance in the field of foreign language education and applied linguistics?
  • Literature Review: Does the manuscript include a well-structured analytical review of relevant literature?
  • Research Design: Does the manuscript demonstrate an appropriate methodology? What is the quality of data and analysis?
  • Discussion: Do the discussion and conclusion highlight the significance of the results for research, policy, and practice?
  • Style: Is the manuscript clear, coherent, and concise? Does it comply with APA 7 formatting requirements?

Editorial Decision

  • Based on reviewers' evaluations, the editorial board may make the following decisions:
  • Decline Submission: the manuscript is deemed unsuitable for publication.
  • Resubmit for Review (Major Revisions Required): the manuscript may be reconsidered following substantial revisions.
  • Revisions Required (Minor Revisions): the manuscript may be accepted after addressing minor revisions.
  • Accept: the manuscript can proceed to the subsequent stage without additional edits.

Original Research Articles

This section publishes original research articles that contribute to the advancement of sustainable foreign language education, applied linguistics, translation studies, and intercultural communication from a Eurasian and global perspective. Submitted manuscripts must demonstrate originality, methodological rigor, and academic significance. All articles in this section undergo a double-blind peer review process.

Literature Review Articles

This section publishes literature  review articles that provide critical and systematic analyses of current research trends, theories, and methodologies in foreign language education and related fields. Literature  review articles must offer scholarly insight and contribute to the development of the discipline. All submissions are subject to double-blind peer review.

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.
